Director Medical and Chronic Disease Services

The Director Medical and Chronic Disease Services position is a newly created, strategic leadership role at Mater in South Brisbane. It will be responsible for advising on strategic policy related to medical practitioners within the Medical and Chronic Disease Services Clinical Stream and leading governance, policy and practice development within this stream across facilities at Mater. The role will provide clinical and operational strategic leadership for the service through the integration of exceptional clinical care with research and professional education, and holds full accountability for the provision of day to day services and financial management of the service.

Reporting to and providing strategic, medical specific support and advice to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director will have a professional reporting relationship with the Chief Medical Officer, also working closely with the facility-based Medical leaders within the Medical and Chronic Disease Services Clinical Stream. An inclusive and collaborative leader and a strong communicator, the Director will contribute to building the engagement of the senior medical community within the organisation as well as strong relationships with other professional leaders, in particular through support from the Clinical Stream Director of Nursing.

The Director is responsible for the following:
• Develop stream specific clinical policy, collaborating on the design of processes for translation into practice
• Design and develop systems and processes for the identification of compliance with and deviation from clinical standards, outcomes and care
• Foster a culture of research innovation and an environment that drives and actively encourages internationally recognised research
• Provide effective day to day decision making on operational service delivery with full accountability for financial and operational outcomes of the service.
• Identify and implement strategies to ensure consistent growth across services
• Lead the evidence-based identification and prioritisation of clinical practice improvements that ensure translation of research and evidence into practice in order to deliver contemporary cost effective, consistent, high-reliability clinical care and patient outcomes
• Collaborate with Mater Education to support training and development programs and initiatives

• Registration with Medical Board of Australia in a specialty relevant to Medical Services (essential)
• FRACMA, MBA or equivalent (desirable)
• Higher research degree (desirable)

The position may be suitable for a conjoint appointment with The University of Queensland's Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences or another affiliate educational institution. Further criteria details can be found in the Information Pack linked below.

An attractive employment package will be negotiated which will include salary and conditions suitable for this senior appointment, appropriate administrative support and direct support for personal research programs as appropriate.

Locum Opportunities

Ski Free at Mt Baw Baw, Victoria

Doctors with ED experience are required for weekend and day cover at Mt Baw Baw ski resort situated 2 hours from Melbourne. The doctor attends simple GP and accident cases requiring on site treatment or assessment before transport off the mountain. There are no set consulting times allowing plenty of time for skiing. A family flat accommodating up to 6 is provided free of charge together with lift tickets and lessons for accompanying family members.
