Job Opportunity
Rural Uganda
May 2010 - Aug 2011
This opportunity exists at Karoli Lwanga (Nyakibale) Hospital, Southwestern rural Uganda.
This is an opportunity for EM Physicians, EM Trainees and Research Assistants to practice emergency medicine in rural Uganda.
Global Emergency Care Collaborative (GECC) is a nonprofit group of four US emergency physicians established in 2007 to assist a Ugandan hospital. They have started an Emergency Nurse Practitioner training course. By the end of the program ENPs have the skills to run an Emergency department and to train other ENPs. They are looking for emergency doctors to work with them to help extend the program. There is opportunity for both a paid long term position and volunteer short term positions.
The programs recommended duration of visits is 6-12months for the program director and at least 4 weeks for volunteers (the longer the better). Accommodation and food are provided by the hospital.
